WHY WE FORMED ACTIONPACT BOSTON

We face an existential climate challenge. Although the organizations in Action Pact Boston may be dedicated to very different passions, we all have two critical things in common: We know that climate change is an urgent problem, and we know we can do something about it. What we need now is the heart, vision, and political will to make the changes in our city and our lives that will ensure a safe, healthy, and creative future. That’s where Action Pact Boston comes in.

The City of Boston aims to be carbon neutral by 2050, as well as resilient to the greatest climate threats. To support these efforts the Green Ribbon Commission, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, the Red Sox, and over 40 of Boston’s world class arts, history, sports, and entertainment organizations have partnered together to launch the Action Pact Boston campaign. Arts and culture have the power to open people’s minds and help people see things in powerful new ways. Our goal is to harness that power and encourage a sustained focus on visioning and achieving a climate-safe future.

We love this city and the people who live and visit here. We are driven by our desire to keep them safe and give them the brightest future possible. Action Pact Boston aims to inspire Boston with what is possible and encourage people’s to take productive action that truly matters.

The Boston Green Ribbon Commission

The Boston Green Ribbon Commission (GRC) is a volunteer group of business, institutional, and civic leaders in Boston working to develop shared strategies for fighting climate change in coordination with the City’s Climate Action Plan.

City of Boston Climate Action Plan

Cities contribute 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Like many leading cities around the world, Boston created a climate action plan to reduce its impact on global climate change. The plan details our strategies for carbon reductions from buildings and transportation over the next five years.
